This free printable road trip scavenger hunt is a fun game for kids and families to play on a long car journey. I have created 8 free, printable activities (of different difficulty), for you to download and take on your travels!

This game is all about finding and doing things along the car ride. Made for kids who are old enough to read, this road trip scavenger hunt will get their brains working and keep them entertained as you drive!

There is always lots to see out of the window, and this game is great for keeping children occupied. Crafts for kids in the car are essential to prevent boredom, and so plan ahead and pack lots!

How To Play Road Trip Scavenger Hunt

How to play:

  • Download using the link below
  • Print off the Road Trip Scavenger Hunt game
  • Pack a pen
  • Pack something to lean on in the car (such as a book)
  • Pack prizes for players
  • Players look out of the window or at rest stops to find the items
  • Cross each item out as they find it
  • The winner is the first person to find and cross out all of their items on the sheet

To play the Road Trip Scavenger Hunt, simply print off the sheets using the link to the pdf download below. Pack a pen for each person and take something to lean on in the car.

As you drive, each passenger who is playing needs to keep a lookout for the items on their sheet. Each time you see something, cross it off with a pen, and the first person to see all of the things, wins a prize.

Take a prize for every player to reward everybody for taking part! Maybe their favorite snack, or a new cuddly toy.

If you have a mixture of younger and older children, they can help one another. You could even play as a family and find the things on the list together, with one person marking the sheet.

Hunting for things along the way is a lovely way for them to take in the scenery, rather than being on technology the whole way. It is a bit of friendly competition, and the whole family can get involved too.

Having something to do in the car is really important for children, and they will really appreciate you taking the time to pack them some activities to enjoy along the way.

Purchase an A4 ring binder or Presentation Folder for each child, and fill them with the printed activities. You might want to take a whiteboard marker, and use the games through a plastic wallet. That way, you can reuse them by wiping the plastic wallet clean each time.
